Stories from the Stage is produced by WORLD Channel in partnership with Stellar Story Company and GBH Events. At Stellar, we identify and coach all the people who perform. Hear tales of love and loss, amazing adventures, incredible surprises, and unexpected triumphs. In each show, get up close and personal with storytellers about what inspires them and the craft of storytelling.

  • Carried by 177 partner stations in markets representing 73% of US TV households, WORLD can be experienced via WORLDChannel.org, its YouTube channel, and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can also follow the podcast on several platforms including Apple, Spotify, Stitcher and PocketCasts.

  • Stories from the Stage is filmed at GBH studios in Boston. Due to a limited travel budget, storytellers from outside the city will need to fund their travel if selected as a finalist. Occasionally, special episodes are filmed in additional cities throughout the United States, or virtually online. Sign up for our newsletter below to learn about any opportunities.

  • No. You have been telling stories your whole life. The producers are interested in hearing about unique and transformative experiences. The program routinely features experienced storytellers as well as newcomers to the craft. Everyone is matched with a coach in advance of the recording. Even experienced storytellers discover there are some unique considerations when performing for television. All coaches have been backstage and onstage with Stories from the Stage.

  • Booking for the program is done on a rolling basis, so pitch early and often. The curators review all the pitches and reach out to individuals with stories they want to explore further for an audio version. These are not expected to be polished versions. They are meant to give the curators more insight into your story and style of telling. Booking the final roster can take time as the curators seek to ensure a diverse mix of people, topics, and styles. If you are not selected, we encourage you to pitch again.

  • You can pitch more than one story if you have not been on the program. It is it is good to highlight your preference on the submission page. Curators limit repeat appearances in order to feature as many voices as possible. Occasionally producers will reach out to former tellers in unique situations. If you have been on the program, thank you for telling other people about this exciting opportunity.
